I can’t walk.

Why?

Because I only went a ran a half marathon this morning! Yes, I actually managed to do 13 solid miles of running through the streets of Ealing, West London. It was my first half marathon ever and, amazingly, I didn’t die and I made it round in 2:27:06. My body is paying the price now; my knees are absolutely killing and I dread to think what they will be like tomorrow. I think I’ll avoid that thought for now and think about how great the race was instead.

Wow – it has been far too long since I last posted a weekly update. But rather than not having enough to say, I’ve actually had so much going on that I’ve barely had a free minute to blog. As much as I love being busy, I also really enjoy sharing these posts, so hopefully my life will calm down the tiniest bit. Though that isn’t looking likely!

I’ve just started looking for a new flat to move into from September. I cannot wait to get out of my rubbish house share and into a place that I genuinely like. If you’ve ever tried to move in London, you will know how stressful the housing market is here. It feels like there are hundreds of people looking to move everyday, so flats can go on and off the market in a matter of hours. Thankfully we have lots of time to get it sorted yet.

So what has been keeping me so busy?

As you know, I headed to Rome for a long weekend, and it completely knocked me out for the next week. Then I was off to an all-weekend work conference. Between that, vlog editing for the first time ever, and trying to train for my half marathon – which means a lot of sleepy early starts – it’s been a bit crazy.

Here are some of the highlights.

My life is mostly revolving around running at the moment. Trust me, no-one is more surprised about this than me.

I used to despise running. I would tell anyone that would listen (i.e. my mum) that I simply couldn’t run. My body was not built for intense physical activity, I said. But I was wrong. Yes, running would make my lungs feel like they were about to implode and my calves would ache in protest, but there is a satisfaction in running that definitely can’t be found in the gym. While you might notice that you went slightly quicker on the cross trainer from one day to the next, there are tangible improvements to be made while running.

That is why it is so addictive. More and more people are running extreme distances every year and they’re all loving it. The London marathon attracted more applicants that ever before in 2016, according to The Telegraph. Nearly 250,000 people applied for one of the 38,000 spots, with over 42% of applicants being women, up from around 4 per cent in 1981.

So why are more people – especially women – lacing up their expensive running trainers and pounding the pavements? Read on to find out why I think you should join their ranks.

It’s the weekend again, so of course that means it’s time for another round-up! This weekend I’ve headed back up to the Midlands for a relaxing weekend at home. I’ll be doing lots of cuddling my dog, watching rubbish TV and spending time with family. Blissful.

This week I’ve done lots of touristy London things. I’ve got some fun recommendations for when you next have some free time in the city.

When I haven’t been exploring, I’ve been running. If you see a girl in a bright pink running top huffing and puffing around Hyde Park, there’s a high chance that it’s me. I’m in training for a 10k run and it’s killing me slowly.

It’s weekly round-up time once again, and I can’t quite believe we’re in April already. It’s been another fun week, especially thanks to the fact it was only a four-day working week. If you wondered where the weekly round-up was last Sunday, I wrote a special weekend edition about my Easter weekend in Scotland.

So over the last five days I’ve got back into training for my 10k, had a tour around the Houses of Parliament for the first time, and become obsessed with the musical Hamilton. It’s been a bit of an emotional one! Read on to find out if I’m likely to survive running 10k on 7th May. There’s only just over a month to go, which is rather worrying.
