If you’ve visited Faraway Lisa Mae on YouTube in the last few months, you’ll know that I went on a Disney Cruise this year. Of course, I vlogged the whole trip and now all of the highlights are online. From exploring Barcelona for two days, to finally getting on board the Disney Magic, it was an eventful ten days with lots of excitement.
Here’s a look back at all of our days at sea and on land.
Who needs the Spanish coast when you’ve got Wales?
Yes, that might not be something that you hear everyday, but it certainly felt like that for me this week. For once in my life, I managed to book a week off work months in advance and the weather turned out to be beautiful. The August cloud and rain managed to hold itself at bay for a few days, allowing us to enjoy the glorious British sunshine. The sun’s rays were so strong that I managed to burn my arms and legs when we forgot the sun cream one day – a typical British mistake. Despite the skin damage, we had a really great time exploring a stream near Lake Vyrnwy, the beach at Morfa Nefyn, and the walled city of Chester, just outside the Welsh boarder.

Contacts or glasses for travelling? All of you strutting around with your perfect 20:20 vision may not understand the importance of this one, but as a full-time glasses wearer, please believe me when I say it is a big deal. I need help to see things that are far away. While my vision is not too bad, I like it to be perfect whenever possible so I always wear glasses in day-to-day life and usually when I’m travelling, too. Besides, who wants to stare across the river to the Budapest parliament building and see a bit of a blur?
This might not sound like much of a problem. ‘Just wear your glasses then and get on with it,’ I hear someone cry. But sadly it’s not that simple because prime travelling time is during summer, which is when the sun is brightest. And there’s one thing here that we can all agree on – sunglasses on top of glasses are just not the one. So, those of us who aren’t lucky enough to be gifted with perfect eyesight have two choices; squinting or blurriness.
It’s a battle that I waged war with regularly, but now I can finally say I have a solution.
I absolutely adore this city. Possibly one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited, though it’s completely overrun with other tourists that think the same. It’s cheap, fun, visually stunning and rich in heritage. It would also be a romantic destination for a couple’s weekend away, but as I visited with two other twenty-something females, we made the most of the cheap wine and a fun hostel. A direct flight can cost under £200 return, and with a flight time of around two hours it’s a fantastic weekend break destination.
