Oh, to be a student. Long deadlines, two lectures a week and freedom to plan your own time. I didn’t realise how good I’d got it when I was studying in Sheffield. Now that I’ve entered the world of work, with a 40-hour contract and a 45 minute commute, I dream of those lazy days. To try and relive the glory, I went back to my university city for the weekend with the girls that I lived with for all three of my years in the city. It was fleeting, but we had a lot of fun.
Rather aptly, we spent most of the time in my friend’s bedroom watching TV. Does it get more university-style than that?
When we were convinced to leave the comfort of her house, we headed to some of our favourite haunts.
It’s been another crazy one.
Between a hectic week at work, packing for Florida, and a bit of a social life, I haven’t had a massive amount of time left over for blogging, but there always has to be time to squeeze in a weekly round-up.
This week I went to a fab pub quiz where points were awarded in accordance to how many members of the epic pop group Steps that you could name, rather than on your knowledge of ancient politics. Needless to say, we did slightly better than usual.
I also got colouring – Disney style – with an adorable mini book from Ladybird and then did a bit of offline writing for good measure. Between all that, I still found the time to bring you my three favourite blogs of the week. Read on to find out if you made the shortlist.
Wow – it has been far too long since I last posted a weekly update. But rather than not having enough to say, I’ve actually had so much going on that I’ve barely had a free minute to blog. As much as I love being busy, I also really enjoy sharing these posts, so hopefully my life will calm down the tiniest bit. Though that isn’t looking likely!
I’ve just started looking for a new flat to move into from September. I cannot wait to get out of my rubbish house share and into a place that I genuinely like. If you’ve ever tried to move in London, you will know how stressful the housing market is here. It feels like there are hundreds of people looking to move everyday, so flats can go on and off the market in a matter of hours. Thankfully we have lots of time to get it sorted yet.
So what has been keeping me so busy?
As you know, I headed to Rome for a long weekend, and it completely knocked me out for the next week. Then I was off to an all-weekend work conference. Between that, vlog editing for the first time ever, and trying to train for my half marathon – which means a lot of sleepy early starts – it’s been a bit crazy.
Here are some of the highlights.
My last week of being 21 was pretty crazy, and the first week of being 22 has been busy in a different way.
I feel like I haven’t stopped this week, but it’s been thanks to work rather than fun. But it was also my birthday on Monday! Last year my 21st was pretty epic and consisted of a solid week of celebrations. I knew that all subsequent birthdays would become more subdued, and I wasn’t wrong. I decided to take a few well-deserved days off work last week to go home and properly relax for a while, which was all the sort of celebration that I wanted.
Back in London, I had to do a full day’s work on my birthday but then I went out for dinner with my best London pals. We had a great time drinking all-night happy hour cocktails and discounted American food at Maxwells in Covent Garden. Luckily for me, Monday is their night for discounted everything so we got more than our money’s worth.
It’s the weekend again, so of course that means it’s time for another round-up! This weekend I’ve headed back up to the Midlands for a relaxing weekend at home. I’ll be doing lots of cuddling my dog, watching rubbish TV and spending time with family. Blissful.
This week I’ve done lots of touristy London things. I’ve got some fun recommendations for when you next have some free time in the city.
When I haven’t been exploring, I’ve been running. If you see a girl in a bright pink running top huffing and puffing around Hyde Park, there’s a high chance that it’s me. I’m in training for a 10k run and it’s killing me slowly.
