Far flung destinations

Las Vegas is a very odd place, but you probably already knew that. After hours of driving down long, straight roads through seemingly endless desert, it rises up through the sand. There is no other major civilisation for hundreds of miles around, and yet people from all over the world flock to this patch of the Mojave desert to gamble, drink and have the best time ever.

Rather than falling in love with Vegas, I was bemused by it. It is the child of excess. The world doesn’t need Las Vegas, and yet it exists anyway. If you go, and I think you should just to experience the madness, here’s what you should do.

On short notice, we struggled to find accommodation within our backpacking price range during our visit to Nashville. So, unusually, I’m not going to recommend the place where I stayed in the city. But there are some truly incredible hotel options in and around Nashville, including a boutique hotel on the outskirts of the city, and they’re making me want to book my stay right now.

It takes a while to really connect with some places. While you may have a general good feeling towards a city, it can often take a few days, or even a few separate visits, to really connect with a place. Nashville was not one of those places for me. I fell in love with this rambunctious musical city immediately, and I will forever have fond memories of the time I spent there. If you like live music, a great atmosphere and proper deep south cooking, then this is the city for you.

You already know that I like to travel, but you might not realise that it also fills me with uncertainly. I tend to be quite introverted when meeting new people, and I feel nervous when I’m not 100% sure how to get back to the hostel after a long day of exploring a new city. Despite that, it is my favourite thing to do. To remind myself of why I love it so much, I thought I would gather together some perfect travel quotes and share them with you.
