The end of December is usually the end of a month of eating, drinking and spending, so most people turn their thoughts to plans for the new year. I gave up on keeping any New Year’s Resolutions based around weight loss a long time ago. In fact, it wasn’t until 2014 that I successfully met a New Year’s Resolutions goal at all. I promised to cut down on the amount of ready meals that I ate. In one year, I went from about one per week to three in a year. Not bad going! Since then, I’ve always set realistic goals and my success rate has definitely improved.
So what realistic goals am I setting for 2018?
Run a half marathon
This is the big one! I ran a half marathon in 2016 and it was honestly the hardest thing I’ve ever done. So this year, I took a year off and ran shorter 10k races. I did manage to improve my speed slightly, but it has been a while since I did a run than took much longer than an hour. It’s time to get back into running in the first half of 2018 to improve my health and fitness. Breaking this goal down, I want to exercise three times per week and eat healthily at work. Wish me luck, because I will definitely need it!
I met some of my blog targets this year, like reaching 1,000 followers on YouTube, but I fell short on others. In 2018, I want to keep growing my channels. Most importantly, I want to put out a new video every week on YouTube. I managed to do it this year, but it will be a real achievement to make it to two years of YouTube.
Make new friends
Meeting new people is hard, especially in an insular city like London. In 2018, my resolution is to get out there more and be social with new people. I’d love to meet up with more of my Disney friends from Twitter, too.
As you may know, I enjoy a lot of holidays. Particularly expensive Disney holidays. That means a lot of saving up, and I’m going to dip into my savings less this year and splurge a bit less.
Write in my diary everyday
I am a big slacker when it comes to writing in my diary. I usually catch up with it once every three weeks or so. In 2018, I’m going to put effort into writing in it before going to bed every night. I want to have a daily ‘best bit’ to remind me of the good parts of everyday.
