Moving from Universal to Disney World | Disney vlog behind-the-scenes

The day had finally arrived! I really enjoyed our stay at Universal and I was surprised by how much I loved our hotel, Cabana Bay. All good things come to an end, though, and this one led to something even better: Disney World.

After a morning finishing off at Islands of Adventure, we got an Uber over to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and started the second half of the holiday. Watch the vlog and then come back for my top tips and behind-the-scenes.

Disney Dining Plan

As we use our Dining Plan for the first time in this video, it seems like a good time to explain how it works and what I thought of it. First off, this was one of the best parts of our whole holiday. It was so good that I don’t think I would stay on property again without it.

The standard dining plan, which we paid a small amount to upgrade to after getting the basic plan for free with our hotel, gave us one quick service meal a day. a table service meal and one snack. Between us, this got us around $120 worth of food per day. Our table service meals were $60-$90, quick service usually came in at $40 and snacks are up to around $5 each, so it goes without saying that this was amazing value.

We tried foods that originate from different parts of the world, as well as all our favourite American theme park food. I can’t forget to mention all the Mickey-shaped food as well! From waffles to ice creams, we were very well catered for. We took breakfast cereal bars to eat first thing in the morning and found that we had more than enough dining credits to keep us full through the day.

I can’t recommend the dining plan enough. Just make sure you book all your table service restaurants 180 days in advance. The most popular restaurants fill up incredibly quickly.

Magic Bands

Wow. I knew our Magic Bands would be great, but I didn’t quite realise how convenient they would be. After a few days of having to scramble to find room keys and park tickets, having everything on my wrist was incredibly useful. We had our room key, Photopass, Fastpasses, park tickets and credit cards all on our bands. The convenience is unparalleled.
