Secret Parliament roof terrance and winning the Book of Mormon lottery | weekly round-up

It’s been another packed week, with house hunting, Five Guys, the theatre, and even a secret roof terrace on the top of the Houses of Parliament. Technically, I shouldn’t have been up there, but I couldn’t resist the offer to see Westminster from this unique vantage point.

Read on to find out if the view was really as good as it sounds, and to discover my favourite blogs of the week.

I am not a lucky person. I never win competitions. But that all changed this week.

I entered the popular Book of Mormon online ticket lottery last week, and didn’t think much more about it. I resolved to remember to put my name in every week until I could win a pair of tickets. Winning on my first entry didn’t even enter my thoughts, and yet I received a miraculous email the following week telling me that I’d done just that.

For only £20, we got seats worth over £70 with incredible views. I had the choice between Stalls seats on the side closer to the back, or third row near the middle in the Circle. It was a tough choice but I went for the latter and didn’t regret it. Our view was nothing short of perfect.

During the show, I didn’t stop grinning for one second. There’s a genuinely funny gag a minute, and the actions and expressions of the other Elders just made it for me. I couldn’t stop giggling! Though there are definitely other parts where other audience members are more shocked and appalled, but the magic of Mormon is that people soon forget to be offended and have a really fun evening.

I definitely recommend going to see it if you can. It’s such a fun evening out in London.

View of the stage from our amazing seats

I’m afraid I can’t tell you how to do this one, as it’s one of those annoying situations where it’s not what you know, but who you know.

On Wednesday we got into the Houses of Parliament (completely legitimately, I might add) and went up on to a secret roof terrace near Big Ben (slightly less legitimately). The views were insane, with the world-famous clock tower looming over us and the London Eye just over to the right. We had a little picnic while enjoying the views, then when Big Ben chimed it sounded completely different to how it does when you’re at street level.

It’s definitely not an experience that I’ll be forgetting in a hurry.

BLOGS I'VE LOVED

The Sunday Chapter – I loved all these golden nuggets of advice from Angela at The Sunday Chapter. If you need a bit of motivation to get through the rest of the week, then this is definitely it!

The Curvaceous Vegan – As I’m moving into a new flat at the start of next month, I’ve been thinking a lot about interior design. We might not have an entire dining room to play with, but these ideas from Amie have certainly given me some inspiration for our living space.

Blue Bow – I love favourites blogs, including this one from Sammy at Blue Bow. I’m definitely going to have to check out the Disney section on Asos – which could be dangerous!

What have you been up to this week? Let me know if you’re a Book of Mormon fan, too! Which musical should I try to see next?
