A wedding cake and flying home | Rome day four

How is it time for the last Rome blog and vlog already? The last month has absolutely flown by.

I really hope you’ve been able to keep up with the videos. I’ve had so much fun recording and editing them, and it has definitely inspired me to keep working on my YouTube channel in the future. Of course, that will include becoming a Disney vlogger during our October Disney World trip, which is only just over 70 days away now.

Our last day in Rome was short and sweet as we had to head to the airport in the afternoon. Though we did fit in one of the highlights of the trip; seeing the ‘wedding cake’ – officially named the Altare della Patria. It was built to honour Victor Emmanuel, the first king of a unified Italy. He must have been pretty amazing, because this building is truly breathtaking from every single angle.

We also headed back to our favourite restaurant for our last taste of beautiful Italian pasta. We hoped to eat in the city’s oldest cafe, but thought better of it when we realised a boring sandwich was 12 euros. With the awful post-Brexit exchange rate, that was easily over £10. What a rip off.

After a wave goodbye to this stunning city, and a fond farewell to our wonderfully bizarre bargain hotel, it was time to head to the airport.

Read on to find the last vlog of the series…

I’m going to write up my tips and tricks for a successful visit to Rome in the coming weeks, so do check back if you’re planning a trip.

Thank you so much for following along on this trip with us, and I hope to see you around here again real soon!

Last days are always a little sad! Especially if you’ve had a great time. I haven’t been to Rome in a long time, but I think I prefer other areas of Italy to Rome. It’s all a bit too busy and hectic for me, I’m more of a Florence person 🙂

Did you go inside the Altare della Patria? My husband and I had a wander around when we went, although I can’t quite remember what’s in there now haha.
